Our Fifth Grandchild is Born!

It was Saturday, May 3. Seated on the stand, we had a speaking assignment in the evening session of the Taichung Stake Conference. Thousands of miles away, my daughter was already in labor at the hospital. She was finally able to relax for a while after the epidural set in. The opening hymn started, "How Firm a Foundation." I had just practiced it on the piano a few nights ago. Then the second verse commenced:

In every condition - in sickness in health,
In poverty's vale or abounding in wealth,
At home or abroad, on the land or the sea,
As thy days may demand, as thy days may demand,
As thy days may demand, so thy succor shall be.

I had the most glorious feeling come over me and I knew with every fiber of my being and from the deepest feelings within my heart, that while I was abroad across the vast sea in Taiwan, the Lord would succor my daughter in the days of her demand, even as He was succoring me at that very moment! How grateful I am for the gift of the Comforter, "the peace of God, which passeth all understanding" (Philippians 4:7).

My daughter texted me: Love you so much. I know I'm taken care of.

This was our second grandbaby born while we've been serving our mission.

Our first grandbaby born while in the field, and third child of our oldest daughter, came ten weeks ago:
She truly testifies that she has experienced a calm and serenity with this baby that comes from above,
and sustains her while she strives to be a great mother to three young children.

I have heard the promise many times from our prophets, seers and revelators, that as senior missionaries, you will bless your children more by serving the Lord on the other side of the world, than by living next door to them. I truly testify that this promise is real, and that the Lord sustains His missionaries!
And yes, I'm such a proud mother and grandmother!
